Changes in Orders
We accept changes (flavors, fillings and some designs) for your order with 7 days notice before delivery or pick up date. This does not apply for wedding and groom's cakes or last minute orders placed with less than 48 hours or cakes with intricate designs. This is because for some designs, our team may need to start working on the decoration of your cake in advance. Please note that changes MAY cause the total of your order to change.
All changes must be acknowledged and confirmed directly by a staff member of Island Gem Bakery.
Order Confirmations & Payment
ALL orders, unless otherwise stated, require a 50% deposit for your booking to be confirmed. A conversation about a cake or filling out our order form, does not mean the order has been confirmed.
Allergies & Dietary Requirements
All Cakes and Baked Goods may contain nuts or any other allergens.
Risk of cross contamination is present, even if an Island Gem Bakery product is “Made Without” an allergen, all of our products are produced in a kitchen that handle nuts and the other allergens. Therefore, we cannot rule out the potential for traces of these allergens being included in our products.
It is your sole responsibility to understand the allergies and intolerances of all consumers of the products before you purchase it from our bakery. Our products may not be suitable for consumers with severe allergies. To the fullest extent permissible by law, Island Gem Bakery staff expressly does not accept liability for any injury caused by failure to take note of and apply this guidance.
Order Cancellations
We allow cancellations up to 7 days before the delivery or pickup date. Please note, once a deposit is made, it is non-refundable. If for any reason you may need to cancel or postpone an event, sufficient notice must be given in advance, before décor or the production of the order has commenced. However, this does not apply for wedding and groom's cakes, last minute orders placed with less than 48 hours, or intricate cake designs. Island Gem Bakery reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee if insufficient time is given, as stated above, due to costs incurred in the purchase, preparation and priorization of the order.
Once this is done, store credit can be given, to which you will have an indefinite amount of time to use this.
Cake Care Instructions
Island Gem Bakery is not responsible for orders once they leave our premises. We are not responsible for any damage occurring to the cake during transport, set-up or any time thereafter. You will be given instructions on how to carry, transport, and store your cake upon pick up. If you do not receive these instructions, please ask our associate. Keep in mind that cakes are very fragile and damages can happen if not handled properly, such as cracks, smudges, melted frosting, etc.
Please note that unless otherwise stated, ALL products must be stored in the refrigerator. All products must be refrigerated on the same day of collection. Refrigeration must occur otherwise the product's quality and shelf life will not be guaranteed. Our products do not contain preservatives, and are made with fresh ingredients, such as eggs, butter, milk and dairy products. It should not be stored in hot or warm areas, in direct sunlight or close to ovens and any other areas generally hot.
Please note, we are not responsible for climate changes, that can affect cakes, or if the display location is not an optimum or suitable location for the cake, such as direct sun, or extreme heat.
Products should not be transported on the seat of any vehicle, but must be transported on a flat and evenly leveled surface, such as the floor or the trunk. Failure to transport any order in this manner, may result in damages, which the company will not be liable for. Please be sure to transport orders in a careful manner, taking caution on the roads, and driving at a slow speed, at all times.
